MMO Ref: HOL0040
Project Name: YLS Classroom Extension
Organisation: Yorkshire Wildlife Trust
Purpose built classroom facility for the HCFLAG Project 'Yorkshire's Livings Seas'. At present the centre comprises of one main room, wet room, small office and toilet facilities. At a push the main room seats 30 children, to date requests for groups up to 60 in size have been requested. A classroom extension will allow for larger groups to be accommodated, provide better educational equipment to improve quality of experience and seek to develop two areas where both the public can access the centre at the same time as educational groups. At present due to child protection policies and space, one multipurpose room cannot host both members of the public and educational groups at the same time. An extension of the existing office facility associated with the existing build will allow for greater staff/volunteer presence on site, an indoor storeroom to house educational equipment and a basic open plan kitchen area to allow for the ability to undertake cookery and food preparation workshops tying the educational facility with the seafood programme currently underway. Through this provision the aim is to run some skills based workshops focussing around crustacean preparation and cooking.
